Jumbotron!

So, SparkFun has these awesome 32×32 RGB LED panels. They also have a cheap webcam and a powerful-enough microcontrollers (a Teensy 3.1 in this case) to potentially drive live video from a webcam onto this RGB LED array. I set off to see if it could be done.

Turns out, it can!

Here’s the finished project (see above) — the little blue thing clamped to the stick is the webcam, facing down at the improvised SparkFun flame. As you can see, a fairly good representation of the flame is on the LED panel. Success! At some point I’ll take some video to prove it works in real-time.
