Hello there! You've reached the portfolio-ish site of Ben Leduc-Mills. I like using my background in computer science, HCI, and design to uncover answers to questions people didn't know they should be asking, and then crafting a data-driven, design-polished, narrative-rich artifact to tell the story.
Yes, I use AI everyday. For code, for design, and for research. No, I didn't use it for this website.
Having Been There (collaboration with Abby Bennett)
Having Been There was a collaboration with artist Abby Bennett, completed in Fall in 2011. A custom-built bench was outfitted with a circuit designed to count the number of ‘sits’ the bench received. The circuit consisted of an Arduino micro controller, a seven-segment display mounted flush on the face of the bench (to display the number of ‘sits’), and a force-sensor mounted discreetly under one of the bench legs. The circuit was powered by a 9V battery pack mounted on the underside of the bench, making the bench mobile and appear to have no visible wiring.
